03 Feb Gratitude from Laura Gosset
I would like to take this opportunity to send out my heartfelt thanks on this Free-For-All-Friday to the lovely Ladies On Literature for their generous donation to Project Literacy Kelowna in memory of my Mom, Cleone Gosset.
Mom passed away on January 1st, 2012 at the feisty age of 91 years. Although I know deep inside, hers was a life was well lived, I miss her quirky sense of humour, her matter-of-fact wisdom and her strength and indomitable spirit.
My mother was a voracious reader of all types of literature. Through our childhood, if she was deeply engrossed in a novel, preparation of the family’s dinner that night could very well wait until she was “through the good part”. She was instrumental in the founding of the very first library in the then tiny community of Spruce Grove, Alberta and was committed to assisting those with literacy challenges throughout her entire life.
I know she is up there somewhere thrilled knowing donations made in her memory will be used to improve literacy skills which she irrefutably believed could make the difference in leaving behind a history of unemployment, poverty and social exclusion.
Three cheers and a big thanks again LOL, you guys are the best!
